Grade I Listed Building Success at Greyfriars Church Reading

Bluestone Planning is pleased to confirm that they have secured planning permission for a new glazed foyer and substantial link extension at Greyfriars Church on Friar Street in Reading. Greyfriars is a Grade I listed building, described by Historic England as “the most complete surviving example of Fransiscan architecture in England”.
The new foyer will replace the current foyer and will link through to the church via a new glazed opening in the medieval west wall beneath the west window.

The scheme was finally passed at committee with the support of Historic England, the Reading Civic Society, the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, Berkshire Archaeology and the Council’s own heritage consultant. This follows extensive pre-application work by the project architects JBKS Architects and representatives from the Church, supported by Bluestone Planning.
