We provide advice in all areas of town planning work. Typically this might involve: undertaking planning appraisal work for landowners to assess the development potential of land; submitting planning applications; advising on appeals or enforcement matters; or indeed making representations on behalf of clients through the development plan process.
In addition, we undertake a wide range of other work including:
- Commercial, leisure, employment and mixed-use developments
- Contributing to land and property valuations
- Enforcement and planning appeal work
- Pre-application consultations with planning authorities, key stakeholders and community representatives / the general public
- Advice on planning policy and legislative matters
- Preparation of development briefs
- Individual householder development including extensions
- Advertisement consent work
- Certificates of lawfulness
- Project management of larger applications and appeals
- Coordination of environmental impact assessments
- Working with listed buildings, protected trees and sites in conservation areas
- Providing update seminars on various planning matters
We also specialise in planning obligation negotiations with the objective of maximising the benefit to our clients as a result of the planning obligation and tariff negotiation process.
We often work as part of a larger team and are able to bring on board specialist advice when required in areas such as ecology, landscape design, archaeology, heritage, highways and transport, green infrastructure, flood risk, energy generation / conservation, sustainable construction and BREEAM.
As chartered members of the Royal Town Planning Institute we are also authorised by the Bar Council under Licensed Access. This allows direct access to the services of a barrister. This may be particularly important in matters concerning planning appeals, legal challenges or in connection with complicated areas of planning law that require specialist advice.
