We are thrilled to share some exciting news from the Bluestone Planning team - Alyssa Birum has been promoted to Senior Planner!

Since joining Bluestone Planning, Alyssa has made a tremendous impact through her diverse range of projects, demonstrating both technical excellence and thoughtful design. From detailed householder planning applications to crafting plans and elevations for active developments - and even shaping masterplans for housing sites of up to 100 dwellings, Alyssa has consistently brought a unique blend of creativity, precision and big-picture thinking to every project she touches.

Alyssa’s journey into planning and urban design is as rich and well-rounded as her portfolio. With an MSc in City Planning and Design from Queen’s University Belfast and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon, she brings an international perspective to her work, bridging insights from both the UK and US built environment sectors. This dual exposure has given her a distinctive edge, helping her navigate the complexity of planning systems while prioritising human-centred design.

Alyssa’s promotion is a recognition of not only her technical skills and dedication, but also her leadership, collaborative spirit and her growing influence in shaping places that are liveable, sustainable and future-ready.
